Arline "Kitty" Stegemeyer, 83, of Danville IL., passed away at 12:40 am on Monday May 20, 2013 at the Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born on September 23, 1929 to Frank and Rose (Bouchard) Miller in Sheboygan WI. She married Gerald "Jerry" Stegemeyer on October 4, 1947, in Sheboygan WI. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1997, they were married for 50 years. Arline is survived by her sons Terry (Diane) Stegemeyer of Spring Lake NC., and Perry (Lucia) Stegemeyer of Danville IL.; daughter Sherry (Ed) Cole of Spring Hill TN; grandson Andy Stegemeyer of Danville IL.; and her brothers Wayne (Elaine) Miller of Spaulding MI., Dennis (Patsy) Miller of Powers MI., and Wesley Miller of Escanaba MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, granddaughter Katherine and one brother Roger Miller. After she moved to Danville Arline worked for General Electric and Vermilion County Nursing Home. She later went on to retire after 24 years of service as a social worker from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services where she managed the Foster Care Program, a job which included screening and assessing potential foster and adoptive families which helped to create loving families in Vermilion County. Arline was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a long standing member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Danville. Arline took great joy from the many friendships she formed while staying a Liberty Estates and Hawthorn Inn. She enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, going shopping and playing cards with friends. Above all else she loved spending time with her family, especially her only grandson Andy. A celebration of Arline's life will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday May 24, 2013 at the Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Kent Tibbens officiating and a private family burial at Danville National Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held an hour prior to services from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Friday May 24, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials may be made in Arline's name to her beloved grandson Andy through the Andrew Stegemeyer Special Needs Trust for his Continued Care or the Trinity Lutheran Church of Danville.
