Arlene Borgwald

Esther “Arlene” Borgwald, 84, Perrysville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

Esther (known as Sis to her family & Arlene to everyone else) was born on May 12, 1940, at home in Chrisman, IL, the second child of James Carol and Phoebe Irene (Craig) Miller. (It was Mother's Day & mom had the mumps at the time she was born).

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Baldwin.

Survivors include her son: Gary Borgwald; two bonus daughters: Lori (Chris) Marxmiller and Jennifer (Jax) Bohlander; her grandchildren: Derek (Katie) Davis, Garrett Borgwald, Presley Marxmiller, Spencer (Lauren) Marxmiller, Luke Bohlander, Megan Bohlander; several great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Nancy Bischler of Henry, IL, Debbie Mitchell (Jim) of Ridge Farm, IL, Linda Holloway of Charleston, IL, and Terry Taber of Kansas, IL

She graduated from Chrisman High School, Class of 1958. She attended Brown Business College and worked for Chuckles Candy and at Hyster's as a key punch operator. She married Roy Borgwald on June 3, 1986, at Second Church of Christ where she was a longtime member. After moving to Perrysville, IN, she and Roy faithfully attended West Liberty Church of Christ. Arlene and Roy loved to travel and spent many winters in Arizona & Florida. She lived a full and active life until the time of her death. She enjoyed pitching horseshoes, baking, reading and going to the Covered Bridge Festival every year. Most of all, Arlene loved spending time with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Arlene will be held at 11AM CDT on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois with Pastor Kurt Flora officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be from 10AM CST – 11AM CST at the funeral home in Danville.
