Arble Leo Bomgardner 77, of Georgetown, passed away at 3:02 am, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born September 4, 1931, in Paris, the son of George Arble Bomgardner and Bertha Jane (Ogle) Bomgardner. He first married Wanda Marie Thomas in 1950 until her passing in 1960. Then later married Thelma Smitley on November 25, 1965, she survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Thomas (Louise) Bomgardner of Owensboro, KY, Patrick (Laura) Bomgardner of Davenport, IA; three daughters, Linda (Steve) Archibald of Ocala, FL, Jeanette (Rusty) Noggle, Barbara (David) Smith both of Georgetown; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy, Kenneth, Jessica, Becky, Leslie, Monica, Amanda, Patricia, James, Marissa, and Kelton; also eight great-grandchildren; and special neighbors, Steve; and many special friends. Arble was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Clyde; one sister, Louise; and four brothers, John, Raymond, Robert and Wayne. Arble retired from Danville Metal Stamping in 1994 with several years of service, he started out as a welder and later worked in the maintenance dept. He was a member of the N.R.A and Good Sams Camping Club. He enjoyed camping, gardening, antiquing, and reading. Arble was well known for grilling out and tinkering around. He was thoughtful, pragmatic and had a very keen eye for detail which was evident in each project or endeavor he tackled. He was a very inventive person. Most of all, Arble loved his family and being a grandpa. Everyone whose life Leo touched will miss him. It was, indeed, a privilege and honor to have known him. A celebration of life funeral service for Arble Leo Bomgardner will be 10:30 am, Wednesday December 10, 2008 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. James Blue. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday December 9, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
