Anthony L Pasierb

Anthony "Tony" L. Pasierb, 82, of Westville, passed away on September 5, 2026, in Westville, Illinois.

Anthony was born on October 28, 1943, in Danville, Illinois, to Anthony J. and Margaret (Reano) Pasierb. He grew up in Westville and graduated from Schlarman High School with the Class of 1961. Following graduation, he started his career at HK Porter. While attending Danville Area Community College for two years, he worked at Hyster in Sales Distribution. He later moved to North Miami, Florida, where he worked in appliance sales before returning to his hometown of Westville. Throughout his career, Anthony was well known for his work in sales at Walker's Appliance and Logan Street Appliance. He later retired from AutoZone after years of dedicated service.

A man with a great sense of humor, Anthony was known for bringing smiles to those around him. He loved crossword puzzles, handheld electronic games, telling jokes, and surprising family and friends with funny gag gifts and greeting cards. Many people fondly remember him as the gentleman who always had a Werther's candy ready to share with anyone he met. To his family, he was affectionately known as "Uncle Ants," a title he cherished.

Tony dedicated much of his life to serving his community and country. He was a member of American Legion Post 51 in Westville for 35 years, served in the United States Army Reserves, and volunteered as a firefighter with the Westville Fire Department. As a young man, he was active in Scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and becoming a member of the prestigious Order of the Arrow. He also faithfully served as an altar boy at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville.

Anthony is survived by his sister, Darlene (Gary) Oakes; his niece and nephew, Cari (Robert) Lewis and Doug (Melissa) Oakes; great-niece and nephews, Shelby (Dylan) Hughes, Logan (Kali) Oakes, and Carson Lewis; great-great-nieces and nephews, Astella Alpers, Isabella Pichon, Beau Hughes, Baker Hughes, Elliott Alpers, and Baby Oakes, expected to arrive in December; as well as many beloved cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony J. Pasierb and Margaret (Reano) Pasierb; his paternal grandparents, Antone and Agnes Pasierb; his maternal grandparents, Louis and Edith Reano; and his great-nephew, Kyle Oakes.

Tony will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone he met. Whether sharing a joke, handing out candy, or giving one of his legendary gag gifts, he had a unique way of making people smile. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 414 State Street Westville, Illinois 61883. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Westville with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to Westville Legion Post 51 Honor Guard.
