Urbana - On Thursday, October 11, 2018 Anne Clancy McVey, loving mother and sister, passed away at age 72. Anne was born on July 26, 1946 in Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. In 1969, she received her RN degree from Whipps Cross University Hospital in London and devoted her life to caring for others. After serving as an ICU nurse in both London and Houston for 11 years, she worked at the Villa de Matel in Houston, Texas until her retirement in 2013, providing care for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in their retirement. On March 31, 1984, she married the love of her life, Jim McVey. Together they loved and raised their daughter, Aine. Anne had a passion for music, white wine, walks on the beach, shrimp and lobster sauce take-out, and drinking a nice cup of Barry's while eating HobNobs and watching Masterpiece Theater mysteries. She always put the needs of others before herself, and will be remembered always for her charity, love, and unwavering support. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughter, Aine, son-in-law, James, and grandson, Seamus; her sister, Mary Jo, and brother-in-law, Preston; her brothers, Patrick, Tim, and J.C., and sister-in-law, Nora; her nieces, Cordelia and Anna-Marie; and nephew, Tim. The family is grateful for condolences, but invites you to make a donation to Women for Women International (https://www.womenforwomen.org/get-involved) on her behalf in lieu of flowers. Very special thanks to the staff of Clark-Lindsey Village for all their care and support. Please join her family in sharing memories, photos, and videos on her tribute wall at sunsetfuneralhome.com.
