Anne Betkis

WESTVILLE- The Lord called Anne Betkis, 92, of Westville home on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 5:30pm. She was born in Westville on January 11, 1914, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Shandivitis. Both her parents precede her in death. In May of 1935, Anne married Anton Betkis. He precedes her in death. Mrs. Betkis leaves behind: her four children; Mr. Jim (Diane) Betkis of Merrimac, WS, and their children; Julia Betkis of TN, Mrs. Barbara (Betkis) Jaiman of FL, Mrs. Terry (Brian) Jump and Ms. Sherri McClellen of Nacedah, WS, and Brian Randall of Chicago and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Loretta (Mylon) Cowell of Westville and their children; Capt. Keith Cowell of Boisier City, LA, Mr. Mathew (Erica) Cowell of Morris, IL, Eric Cowell of Bloomington, IL, Mrs. Lynette (JJ) Evans of Tilton, Mr. Doug Cowell of Springfield, and Mrs. Carol Cowell of Alhambra, IL, and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Donna (Michael) Lovejoy of Westville and their children; Sarah and Andrew Lovejoy, Mr. Christopher Lovejoy of Chicago, Mrs. Sarah (Patrick) Potempa of Long Grove, IL, and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kathy (Stan) Pintar of rural Williamsport, IN, and their children; Adam Pintar, Kelly and Abbey Pintar, both of Indianapolis, IN. Anne is preceded in death by her two sisters; Mary Hamilton and Rose Sakanis, and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Betkis. Annes children and grandchildren especially remember her religious devotion. She was strong in her faith and often volunteered in her younger years at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville where she was a life long member. Flower gardening, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and canning the garden harvest are the fond memories of her family. A Catholic Mass will be held for Mrs. Anne Betkis at 2:30pm CST on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. Final resting will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. A gathering of family and friends will be held between 4-8pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Home at 414 S. State St. in Westville. The public is welcome to attend the reciting of the Rosary at 7:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Annes name to the St. Marys School in Westville.
