Anna Mae Shoemaker, age 79, of Danville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, after a 4 year battle with cancer, at 11:55 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at her home. She was born May 16, 1928 in Danville the daughter of Leroy and Gennie Idelle (Miller) Moulton. Anna married Roger Shoemaker on July 9, 1953 in Paris, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in January 1992. She is survived by two sons: Ronald (Sherrie) Shoemaker of Danville, Louis (Susan) Shoemaker of Urbana; three sisters: Goldie Strange of Danville, Mary Jane Crider of St. Louis, MO, Dora Bell (Ed) Jamison of Danville; four grandchildren: William Clay and Rosa Marie Shoemaker of Danville, Shannon Lea Christians of Royal, Jaime Lee Christians of St. Joseph; and two great grandchildren: Peyton Crowe of Royal and Preslee Christians of St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: one brother: Bill Moulton; and three sisters: Charity Byerly, Louise Alpers, and Jessie Lee. Anna worked at Head Start as Director of Health Services for over 20 years until her retirement. She was an active member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene. Anna enjoyed bird watching, and working in her gardens and planting her flowers. She liked spending time with her group of friends that she got together with a couple times a month to sing songs at local nursing homes. What Anna loved the most was spending time with her family.
