Anna B. Dugas Bruckman, 98, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Westville, passed away at 5:35am, Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Fort Myers, FL. She was born on April 16, 1917, in Westville, IL, the daughter of George Gregor and Beatrice A (Cimo) Vacketta. She was married to William J. Dugas in 1937 until his passing in 1963. She is survived by: her daughter, Bea Davis of Fort Myers, FL; her son, Bill (Joyce) Dugas of Westville; her son-in-law, Bob Thorlton of Fort Myers, FL; her sister, Mayme Smith of Merritt Island, FL; her grandchildren, Terri (Chuck) Vanness of Ft. Myers, FL, Sherri (Joe) Skonczewski of Manor, TX, Tim Davis of Gainesville, FL, Todd Davis of Gainesville, FL, Gretchen Dugas of Westville, IL, Andy Dugas of Westville, IL, & Ben Dugas of Carbondale, IL; her great grandchildren, Nicholas (Jenna) Vanness, Josh Vanness, Brian Dean, Jacob Vanness, Noah Dean, & Taylor Davis; her great-great grandchild, Emma Vanness; her good friend & companion for 17 years, John Brick of Ft. Myers, FL; her nieces, Nina Pinzarrone of San Francisco, CA, Sherry (Tom)Gaulke of Albany, OR, and Lani (Charlie) McKnight of Blaine, TN; her good friend, Emma Lou Brewer; and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, & friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her daughter, Diane Thorlton; her son, George Dugas; her son-in-law, Tom Davis; her husbands, Augie Herricks, John Sibbons, & Jack Bruckman; her brother, Ore H. Vacketta; her step-sister, Dorothy Schaffer; and her nephew, Ore Vacketta Jr. Anna had a beautiful smile and outgoing personality. She loved dancing, singing, cooking, playing cards, bowling, and socializing. She also loved to travel, painting, & ceramics. She was a member of St. Mary's Alter & Rosary Society, Westville Women's Club, and the Red Hat Society. In her younger years, Anna worked for her uncles at Vacketta Grocery. After losing her husband, Bill, Anna then worked for her brother, Ore, at Vacketta & Son Ford. For a time, she worked as an Avon Representative. Although Anna was considered a Florida resident since the 1980's, she always looked forward to coming back home to Westville for the Annual Vacketta Reunion. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Anna will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Celebration of Anna's life will be held at 6:00pm, Friday, July 8, 2016, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, IL, 61883, with Father Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm - 6:00pm Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery, Danville, IL, at a later date. Memorial donations may be given in her name to St. Mary's Church, Westville, Resurrection Cemetery, Hope Hospice Care of Fort Myers, Florida.
