Anita Joyce Stokes, age 76, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at her home. She was born August 27, 1931 in Catlin, IL. She was the daughter of Leathia McMasters and John P. Morgan. Anita married Frank Stokes on December 26, 1951 in Georgetown. He survives. She is also survived by two sons: John (Anita) Stokes of Westville, Brian (Aimie) Stokes of Weston, FL; one brother Walter Wallace of Plano, Texas; two brother-in-laws: Glenn Stokes, Joe (Meredith) Stokes; one sister-in-law: Maxine Stokes; five grandchildren: Jessica Stokes, Kristina Lee, Dana Stokes, Ryan Stokes, Katie Stokes; five great grandchildren: Kali Debarba, Cody Miller, Ceina Davis, Rilynn Jacobs, Nathen Lee; two special friends: Donna Rahm of Danville, Ina Olds of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Anita worked at the 7 UP factory as a teenager. She was then employed with the telephone company as an operator. She worked at Spiegel Catalog Company before becoming a deputy tax assessor for Vermilion County. She retired from the county in 1984. Anita enjoyed spending her time croqueting, making dolls, and taking motorcycle trips across the country with her husband. She was an avid bowler. Anita became a member of the Jehovahs Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Danville in October of 1962. Per Anitas wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Kingdom Hall at 619 E. Voorhees in Danville with Elder Aaron Henry officiating. Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center was in charge of arrangements.
