Andrew “Andy” Reynolds (54) was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 8, 2026. He left this life after suffering multiple heart attacks and fatal heart arrhythmia. Though this transition was dramatic, as all life saving measures were exhausted, we are comforted by the fact that his eldest daughter, Evangeline, was right there with him, holding his hand and reminding him just how loved he was.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Marcia Reynolds (Schwanke), his children, Evangeline Mondello (Jordan) of Mahomet, Jacob Reynolds (21) & Elisa Reynolds (14) of Fisher, his granddaughters Magnolia, Mazie & Maybelle Mondello, his parents, Weldon “Tuffy” Reynolds and Nancy Reynolds (Beck) and sister, Carrie J Reynolds of Mahomet along with many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Andrew was born on August 13, 1971 in Champaign County. He spent much of his young life in Homer, Illinois followed by Forreston, Illinois. When he was in the 5th Grade his family moved to Peru, Illinois where he spent the rest of his formative years. When his sister Carrie came into the picture he found himself in another role he loved, big brother! Not only did he adore her but, he also found that if he would take her along places girls would pay attention.
In High School, Andy was a member of the National Honor’s Society and also stood out as an exceptional athlete in Football as well as Track and Field. He even stepped up to help coach the girls field events when they found themselves without a coach. Andy also spent time playing percussion with the LaSalle-Peru High School Cavaliers Marching Band. He always said his love of music began listening to his Mom’s records as a child and he had quite a wealth of knowledge when it came to music. He went on to perform as a drummer in a number of bands that played in and around the Illinois Valley in the 1990’s. Through these experiences he formed many lifelong friendships that he held dear long into adulthood.
Andy became a father in 1994 with the arrival of Evangeline. It was in those moments he found what his true passion was… being a Dad. He raised his “Angel” in the loving home of his family, with Tuffy, Nancy & Carrie close at hand. He went back to school and received his degree in Network Administration from Parkland College and went on to work for Connexus and then Frasca International as a Network Administrator.
In 2010 through the advent of Facebook his life took a new turn when he reconnected with his wife, Marcia. They had met in the Marching Band during High School but life had taken them on separate paths. But, with God’s help these two found each other again and a new chapter in his life began. Along with Marcia came her son, Jacob who he officially adopted in 2015. They also welcomed their final piece to their family puzzle in 2011 with the arrival of Elisa. His children were the light of his life! He happily took on the role of a “Family Man” living out all that entailed every day of his life. Andy so enjoyed loving on his people and he did it so completely whether it was fixing or building something for his parents, kissing his baby girl’s boo boos, building Pinewood Derby cars with his son, or talking things through late into the evenings with Marcia. He was steadfast and true, always believing in the simplistic beauty of this life. He would often say, “I learned everything I needed to know about putting family first from my parents.” and he did just that daily!
Andy reconnected with his faith in this time, when Jacob and Elisa were still small. He found himself in a dedicated community of believers at East Bend Church. He and Marcia would joke that they were loved right into the pews by the congregation. He was baptized with his wife on May 22, 2016 and joined the membership of East Bend Church.
Andy also loved supporting his wife as they revitalized the defunct Fisher Band Boosters Club together. He spent countless hours volunteering his time for the advancement of musical education in hopes that his children would be able to enjoy the same kind of marching band experiences he and Marcia had enjoyed all those years prior.
Andy always supported and encouraged the dreams of his family and friends. He was the kind of man who you could call if you got yourself in a jam and needed some encouragement, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on or even just someone to be there (he may have teased you a bit depending on the jam) but, he would show up, if he was able, every time. He was a bit intimidating to look at when you first met him, but, if you paid attention you would realize he was just a big teddy bear at heart. He had a great dead pan look and could drop a one liner without missing a beat. His humor carried him through the twists and turns of life and he never lost that even to the end. After he passed Evangeline mentioned that the nurse had to come and check on him the night before because of all the giggles coming from his room as they visited. His last nurse shared that not even an hour before he passed he was sharing with her about his “Your’s Mine & Ours” family and how proud he was of each and every one. He was the consummate Family Man.
He also looked at many of his friends throughout the years as just a larger extension of that family and if you were lucky enough to have known him you probably could see that for yourself. If I had to put it simply… he was REAL, what you saw was his true self, he never put on airs or tried to be something he wasn’t because he never had to, he was enough and imperfectly perfect just as he was.
