Andrew "Andy" J. Potter, 72 of Danville, passed away at 12:53 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Provena USMC, Logan Campus. He was born August 15, 1931 in Danville, the son of the late John and Athea (Edwards) Potter. Andy married JoAnn Jean McHenry on January 19, 1985 in Danville. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters; Nancy Potter of St. Louis, MO, Sharon McGrath and Sondra Harris, both of Champaign; three sisters; Betty Pataki of Westville, Eva Davis and Lena Anders, both of Danville, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Dale Potter, preceded him in death. Andy worked as a truck driver and salesman for Lovelace Trucking, he later worked for the City of Danville in the City Garage retiring in 1993. He served in the Army Reserves. Andy was a member of the Second Church of Christ, Salty Sams Camping Club where he made many friends through traveling, Anchor Masonic Lodge #980 and a past member of the Gao Grotto. He had a passion for antique cars, especially Corvettes and El Caminos. In his youth, Andy raced stock cars, sprint cars. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his brother, Dale.
