Andrea Annette Egger, 39, of Gallup, New Mexico, formerly of Danville, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at her home. Andrea was born December 7, 1967. She was the youngest of the eight children of George W. and M. Marjorie Egger, of Danville. She was born in Elgin, Illinois and raised in Palatine, Illinois. There she attended St. Thomas of Villanova Elementary School from kindergarten through the eighth grade. She then attended Palatine High School graduating from there with honors. She went to the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, majoring in Journalism, and interned at Danvilles Commercial News during her undergraduate years. After graduating from U of I, she relocated to Roswell, New Mexico, obtaining her first professional job as a reporter for a newspaper. After a short time, she moved to Gallup, New Mexico, and earned a column on the Gallup Independent newspaper. She began court reporting or The Crime Beat as she used to call it, and became a well-known and highly-respected reporter in both the court rooms and the police departments. It was during her time as a court reporter that she met the man about whom she would write her first novel. Grave Accusations was published in 2001 and would lead her to write two other novels- as yet unpublished-within the True Crime genre. While journalism and writing were her first loves, she had a passion for helping others as well. This calling led her to become a teacher in 2004. She taught as Wingate High School in Gallup, New Mexico. She began studies for her Masters of Arts in Teaching at Western New Mexico University, and she obtained her degree there in May of 2007. Andrea also loved cats and making jewelry. She is survived by her parents- George W. and M. Marjorie (Boehm) Egger of Danville; five sisters- Lynne M. (Bruce) Terry of Sonora, California, Dr. Marlene J. (Larry Stewart) Egger of Salt Lake City, Utah, Leigh A. Egger of Silvis, Illinois, Adriene J. Egger of Danville and Lt. Col. Adryce M. (Lt. Col. Patrick) Clements of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers- George L. (Nancy) Egger II of Washington, Illinois and Paul R. Egger of Lenexa, Kansas; three nephews- Adam P. Terry, Jackson G. Clements and Garret L. Clements; and three nieces- Melissa E. Egger, Sarah C. Egger and Katelin M. Clements and a very special family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Per Andreas wishes she will be cremated.
