Amy Marshall-Colon

Amy Marshall-Colon passed away on July 26, 2025 at the age of 46 with her mother, Lorna Marshall (Yoho), and husband, Gabriel Colon, by her side. Born in Parkersburg, WV, to Lorna and Richard Marshall, she went on to earn degrees from Lipscomb University, University of Florida, and, ultimately, a PhD from Purdue University. After completing a National Institute of Health fellowship at New York University, she was proud to become a professor in the plant Biology Department at University of Illinois; a job she loved. Above all, however, she loved being a loving mother to her beautiful boys, Gabriel and Jude, and that was where she truly excelled. Along with her mother, husband, and children, she is survived by her sister Lorie Rajput (Marshall), brother-in-law, Sanjay Rajput, and a multitude of friends and loved ones all over the world. A private memorial will be held this week. In lieu of flowers, Amy requested donations be made in her name to the Courage Connection in Urbana, IL.
