Amy Jo Foster

Amy Jo Foster, born on September 21, 1976, in Urbana, Illinois, passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital, on July 3, 2025, surrounded by her family. She is the daughter of Merle Griffin and Jeri Lea (Gillespie) Buckley.

Amy worked for 23 years at the Champaign County Treasurer’s Office. She enjoyed her career and gave it her all. Amy married her childhood sweetheart, Kelby Foster, in 1997. They raised their two boys in the home they created in Foosland, IL. Amy was devoted to her family and enjoyed doing things for them.

Amy enjoyed reading, taking care of her yard and camping at the lake.

Amy is survived by her parents, Merle (Nancy) Griffin and Jeri Lea (Gillespie) Buckley; children, Hunter (Katie) Foster and their son, Waylon, and Dakota Foster; brother, Duane (Elizabeth) Griffin and sister Tamara Griffin; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Amy was preceded in death by her brother, David Griffin.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Champaign, Chapel 710 N. Neil St, Champaign, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Jeff Stahl from the Ogden United Methodist Church officiating. As per Amy’s wishes, cremation will follow services.
