Amy A. Erickson-Pipes

Our beloved Amy Ann Erickson-Pipes, age 60, passed this life unexpectedly on July 23, 2015, as a result of an automobile accident. Amy was a lifelong resident of Danville, IL, recently residing in Ridge Farm, IL. She was born February 23, 1955, the daughter of Jack and Betty Pipes. She married Rich Erickson on December 28, 1974 in Danville. They later divorced, but stayed very close friends. He survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Liza" (Tim Smith) Erickson; son-in-law, Woodrow "Woody" DuPree; three grandchildren, Dylan and Landon Smith, and Jocelynn DuPree; a brother, John Pipes, of Scottsdale, AZ; a niece, Kathryn Pipes, of Scottsdale, AZ; two nephews, Johnny Pipes, Of Los Angeles, CA and Jack Pipes, of Cicero, IN; a close cousin, Judy (Clint) Pease of Leesburg, VA; and her in-laws, William Erickson, Char Erickson-Stout, Sandy Erickson-McDougal and Julie Schackmann of Gerogetown, and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her paternal grandparents, Herb and Grace Pipes; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lucy Canaday; and most recently her beloved daughter, Jessica (Erickson) DuPree. Amy graduated from Danville High School in 1972, and attended Arizona State University, majoring in music. She received her masters at Eastern Illinois University in Special Education, and was a licensed cosmetologist, serving many friends and clients for 35 years. She was a great vocalist, and sang for many weddings and different bands, including Charade, a blues/jazz band. She was known as "Amy of 1000 Songs," because when she was asked to sing a certain song, she would already know the lyrics. Her favorite music to sing were songs of hope and faith. Amy recently worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics in Danville as a makeup and accessory consultant. She loved assisting people to help them feel better about themselves. She used every opportunity to witness for Christ in all she did. Amy loved and cherished many things, but what was most important to her were: her God; her daughters; her grandchildren, who loved their Mimi; her family; friends; music; and using Facebook as her "witnessing tool" to share her love for Christ. Her goal was to someday get to heaven, and to see as many of her family and friends she could. She enjoyed visiting different churches over the years, and felt most at home at Stone Creek Church in Urbana, where she became a member. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a knack for telling funny stories and making people laugh. Amy never knew a stranger. She had a host of friends, too many to list, and most of them were her "besties!" She will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Stone Creek Church on Windsor Road in Urbana. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Amy's memory at any Busey Bank location. We rejoice in knowing she is at peace in her final resting place, her Mansion in heaven. "My Father's house has many rooms." - John 14:2
