Alyce L Grabe

Mahomet - Alyce L Grabe, 79, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. She was born on August 30, 1940 in Sioux City, IA, to Timothy and Molly (Hemnes) Elliott. During her youth she resided in various states including Iowa, Tennessee and New Mexico before graduating from Rapid City High School in Rapid City, South Dakota. Alyce attended Dakota Wesleyan University where she met her future husband Gerald (Jerry) Baysore. They were named homecoming king and queen and then were married on graduation day, June 3, 1962. After graduation Alyce and Jerry moved to Denver, CO where Alyce taught school and earned her masters degree in education. While in Denver she gave birth to her son Mark in 1967. The family moved to the south suburbs of Chicago in 1970 where Alyce worked as a teacher, an office manager, a travel agent, and an accounting technician before retiring. Alyce enjoyed reading, watching movies, playing cards, travelling, and spending time with her family. She was also active member of Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest Illinois. Alyce moved to Mahomet IL in 2012 to be closer to her grandchildren.

Alyce is survived by her son Mark (Diane) Baysore; grandchildren Jennifer Cox, Justin Baysore, and Joshua Baysore; nieces and nephews James Turner, Janet Turner, Jennifer Woebke, Kari Roberts, Donna Hadsell, Kimberly Theis, Matthew Martin, Chad Mielke, and Katie Edberg. She was proceeded in death by her parents, first husband Dr. Gerald C. Baysore, second husband Ronald A. Grabe, and sister Mary Lacy.
