Alvi Daniel Norris, 79, of Danville passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his residence. Alvi was born December 14, 1929 in Wayne County, Ohio son of George and Ethel (Anderson) Norris. He married Marlene in July of 1975 in Barrington, IL. She survives along with his three children: Bruce (Pat) Norris, Doug Norris, and Terry (David) Bonnette; as well as many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. Alvi served in the U.S. Army for ten years aquiring a Marksman Medal, Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster, and a Korean POW Medal. During the Korean Conflict, he was held captive as a POW for 33 months. He was a member of the American Legion Post #210, VFW Post #728, DAV, Korean War Vets, and American Ex-POWs. A Celebration of Alvis Life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Danville National Cemetery with Military Honors preformed by Post #210. A memorial luncheon will be held at the American Legion Post #210 following the service. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
