Alroy Martens

Fisher- AlRoy V. Martens, 63, of Fisher, IL, passed away at 7:20 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville. He was born on August 26, 1949 in Hutchinson, KS to Vern and Ann Martens. He is survived by two children, Abel Martens of Lawrence, KS and Bonny (Zach) Greenlee of Manhattan, KS; his father, Vern; companion, Juli Risley; two brothers, Rainer Martens (Julie) of Ormond Beach, FL and Jay Martens (Margaret) of St. Augustine, FL; a sister, Lori McBride (Traci Lawson) of Hutchinson, KS; a grandson, Colin Greenlee; and nephew, Blazik McBride of Manhattan, KS. He was preceded in death by his mother and a twin brother, LeRoy. AlRoy had worked in shipping and packing at Human Kinetics. He was also a founding member of the Champaign Co. Table Tennis Club. AlRoy enjoyed gardening, woodworking, music, and sports of all kinds. Mr. Martens was a Vietnam veteran of the US Navy from 1967- 1971 having served on the USS Coral Sea as a Communications Specialist- Radio Operator A memorial service for AlRoy Martens will be held at a later time. Cremation rites will be accorded by Sunsets Champaign Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Champaign County Table Tennis Club.
