Danville - Alma "Pinky" Corneice Cunningham, 73, of Danville, passed away at 9:14 am on July 6, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. Alma was born March 18, 1949 in Columbus, Ky. She was the daughter of Azerlee and Wesley Freeman and L.T. and Veatrice Scott. Alma was raised by a Great-Aunt Nellie Knox in Danville.
Alma attended Collett School, South View Jr. High and graduated from Danville High School and took on-line classes from World Harvest Bible College. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Life Church, under the leadership of Pastor Archie and Shelia Neal.
Alma married Arthur L. Cunningham in St. Louis in 1966. To this union was born two children, Tammy and Arthur Cunningham, Jr. Alma worked at Tee Pak and retired after 39 years of service. She enjoyed talking, traveling, cooking good meals for her family, shopping, and watching Lifetime Movies. She was a gifted woman with a beautiful smile, with insight and was anointed by the presence of God in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Cunningham, Sr., son, Arthur Cunningham, Jr.; brothers: Thomas, Anthony, Roger, John and Dennis Scott; sister, Tina Ramona Freeman; sister-in-law, Nadell Freeman; nephew, Tahir Freeman; niece, Samantha Wynn; great nephew, Terran Bolden; special cousin, Sharon Lynn Knox; and best friends: Elma McGee, Juanita Williams and Cora Wilson.
Alma leaves to cherish her memories daughter Tammy Cunningham Tolbert Williams; grandchildren: Laraia (Demondre) Reed, Tamara, Terrence Tolbert and Tambrisha Jackson of Indianapolis, Terry 'Rio' Thompson of Michigan, Jessica Cunningham, Emmanuel and Ardell Cunningham of Danville; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: James Merritt, Charles (Marguerite) Freeman, Richard Freeman, Ronald Freeman and Rodney (Yvette) Freeman of St. Louis, MO, Allen (Sylvia) McKinney of Terre Haute, Carla Brooks and Diedra (Rev. Derrick) Fitts of Union City, TN; special cousins who she adopted as children Derrick (Devona) Knox of Paducah, KY and Kimberly Knox of Louisville, KY; godchildren: Presence, Serenity and Zion Reed of Danville; sisters-in-law Louise and Trudy Cunningham and brother-in-law Carlos (Rachel) Cunningham of Danville; longtime companion for 40 years, John Baird; friends: Veronica Plummer of Atlanta, Sherry Kay Walker, Carol Rouse Dixon, Delphina Glover, April King, Ida Petty, Earline Collier, Victoria Savage, Delphina Robertson of Danville, and Rae Johnson of Georgetown, IL.
A service to celebrate the life of Alma Cunningham will be held at 12 PM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at The Life Church in Danville. Bishop Franklin Bourn will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM prior to the service, also at the Life Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
