Alma L. Pate, 74, of Oakwood, passed away Wednesday evening, September 14, 2011 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born on October 1, 1936 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert and Gussie Constans. Both are deceased. She married Robert Pate until his passing in 1996. She is survived by one son; Gary (Vickie) Keiger of Oakwood, two grandchildren; Ryan and Cory Keiger. She will be missed by all that knew her. In addition to her parents and husband Robert, her sister; Betty Pack preceded Alma in death. She was a Georgetown High School Graduate, worked for Julian Yudin as their book keeper/manager, fulfilling day to day tasks for over 49 years. She enjoyed square-dancing, flying, riding motorcycles, and dining at Red Lobster, always looking forward to their scallops. She attended the United Church of Tilton, and had a love of collecting elephant trinkets and spending time with her family. A Celebration of Life Service for Alma L. Pate has been scheduled for 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00pm until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Per Alma's wishes, cremation rites will be performed at Sunset's on-site crematory under the immediate direction of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center following her service.
