Alma C Peirson

Danville - Alma Cecile Peirson, 89, of Danville, passed away at 7:27 PM, Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Terre Haute, IN on September 1, 1930 to the late Clarence and Zelda Himmichhoeffer. She married Thomas R. Peirson on February 1, 1952 and they had one son, David.

Alma is survived by her husband, Thomas, of 68 years; son, David (Terri) Peirson; grandchildren, Jakob Peirson of Danville and Tyler (Amber) Burris of Westville; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Harrison Burris; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Zelda (Dunbar) Himmichhoeffer; sisters, Mary Himmichhoeffer of Brazil, IN, Donna Kern of Jupiter Florida, Florena Anders of Effingham, IL; and brother, David Himmichhoeffer of Terre Haute, IN.

Alma graduated from St. Patricks High School in Terre Haute in 1948 and a longtime member of St. Pauls Church in Danville, IL. Alma worked for the Office of Special Investigations on the Offutt Air Force Base and during that time, her husband Thomas, was serving in the Air Force. Alma and her husband moved to Danville in 1960. Alma enjoyed learning about anything she could. If she was interested, she took a class to learn about it. She attended and graduated from DACC with her Associates Degree in her late 30s. She began a wonderful and fulfilling job with District 118 and retired in 1994.

The family would like to give a thanks to OSF Hospice, Lynsey, Karen and Amy for taking such wonderful care of Alma. A special thanks to Christy and Brenda for all the care and support to our family.

Per Almas request, no funeral services will be held with entombment in Sunset Memorial Park. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
