Allen S. Mills, 95, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:00am, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. He was born on September 15, 1918, to Russell H. and Jessie C. {Stahl} Mills, both deceased. On September 25, 1942, he was united in marriage to Kathleen R. Morgan in Charleston, IL, until her passing on December 23, 2001. He is survived by: his sons, Gary (Susan) Mills of Chrisman, James (Linda) Mills of Vermilion Grove, Donald (Debra) Mills of Vermilion Grove, Dennis (Susan) Mills of Carmel, IN, & Steven (Gail) Mills of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Lon Mills, Andy Mills, Karen (Rodney) Eslinger, Jessica (Mitch) Ingold, Brady (Jennifer Hacket) Mills, Francie (Nick) Stokes, Dr. Ryan (Jeannette) Mills, Colin (Amber) Mills, & Alex (Dr. Jessie) Mills; his 13 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Edna Biser of Tilton, Ella Pal of Tilton, Lydia Hall of Home Gardens, Dorothy (Don) Wheeler of Georgetown, and Susie (David) Smith of Olivet. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Herbert, John, Charles, & Albert. Allen was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving in the European Theatre during WWII, 1942-1945. He worked for the NYC, Penn Central & Conrail railroads until he retired in 1983 as a conductor. He was a member of the Vermilion Grove Friends Church, American Legion Dornblaser Post #203, and United Trainmens Union. He and his wife, Kathleen, loved traveling with their friends, Jay & Ora Davis, and their brothers, Robert Morgan, Frank Mills, & their wives, Patty & Florence. Allen also enjoyed hobby farming & watching his grandkids sports. A celebration of Allens life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Vermilion Friends Church with Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00am-2:00pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Vermilion Grove Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post#203. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Vermilion Grove Friends Church.
