Allen Gene Reed

Danville Allen Gene Reed, 67, of Danville passed away at OSF Hospital in Danville at 12:01 AM on April 29, 2019.

Allen was born on January 9, 1952 in Newman, IL the son of Francis Evelyn Campbell. He married Connie Jean Dines on July 21, 1973 in Danville, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Reed of Danville, IL, one daughter, Jodi (Ryan Trosper) Reed Harrier of Danville, IL two sons, Justin "Bear" (Carmen) Reed of Portland, TX and Jerrad (Tashia Spillman) Reed of Danville, IL, one daughter-in-law, Kristal (Matt) Newell Reed-Wolfe of Oakwood, IL, two brothers, Floyd (Cheryl) Hughes of Danville, IL and David (Anita) Hughes of Westville, IL, two sisters, Rosemary (Joe) Dietz of Danville, IL and Kim (Dave) Klein of Sidney, IL, eleven grandchildren, Cierra (John), Brytney, Ashylee, Allyson, Mackenzie, Camron, Cristofer, Gage, Broc, Payton and Lillian, three great-grandchildren, Katalina, Anilya and Grayson as well as special friends, David "Moose" Palmer, Larry Ramsey and Mark and Laura Mikel.

Allen is preceded in death by his mother, one son, Jason Reed and one sister, Johnna Elliot.

Allen served in the United States Army. Allen was a Welder and worked at Cronkhite Industries, Berkley-Davis, Wyman Gordon and Furry Inc. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. Allen was a Die-Hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan as well as a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and WWE Wrestling Fan. "Big Al" coached "Slice Win" for 17 years at Producers Ballpark in Danville, IL.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 with Miles Clark officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Swan Court Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May4, 2019, from 1:00 4:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests that Chicago Cubs or Chicago Bears attire be worn in Allens memory.
