Alice Sophia Henry

Alice Sophia Henry left this earthly life and entered her heavenly home Friday July 28, 2017 at Presence Hospital surrounded by her family. Alice was born January 29, 1925 in Hamtramck, MI to Herman O. and Louise A. Frank Henry. They moved from Hamtramck to Danville in 1930 and lived there for the rest of her life. Alice was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers, Herman C., Eugene T., and sister, Dorothy L. Marion. She is survived by her nephews, Kenneth (Carol) Ford, Jerry (Linda) Ford, Wayne Ford and niece Alyce Marion. Alice worked for the Parisian clothing store, Consolidated Products (Kraft), and then First Midwest Bank until her retirement. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church where she attended Sunday school and bible class. She bowled on bowling teams when she was younger. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and China painting. She was a member of the Red Bud China Painters and every Christmas she would paint over 60 Christmas ornaments for her nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am Wednesday August 2, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday August 1, 2017 at the funeral home.
