Alice Snyder

Alice Snyder, 105, of Danville, passed away at 1:00am, Monday, December 18, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Alice began her life journey September 23, 1912. At eighteen months, her mother died due to child birth complications. Today she is in Heaven and gets to say, "Hi Mom, I'm your daughter." She married Ralph Snyder in 1933 and lived her life as a farmer's wife. Ralph preceded her in death. She was blessed with a daughter, Susan Gaye, in 1946. She would see Gaye married to John Sandusky, have three grandchildren, Staci (Greg) Wright, Amanda (Kory) Knipp, and Joe (Ruey) Sandusky; nine great grandchildren, Delani Wright, Collin Wright, Nathan Wright, Addie Wright, Mayson Knipp, Molly Knipp, Alexis Sandusky, Jared Sandusky, and William Sandusky. We never heard a harsh word spoken of anyone by Alice. She displayed patience, always an ear, loved teaching, a generous heart, and a love and joy of life that was a testimony for all who knew her. For us to watch as the caregivers surrounded her in the past year has been an amazing blessing. Staci, Amanda, Ruey, Joe, Jane, Linda, and a very special Sarah. Visits from Pastor Andy and Pam, Pastor Joe and Teresa were so cherished by her. This caring, loving sweet person is now in Heaven, she left quietly and peacefully with Staci by her side. God answered our prayers as we asked for her not to suffer a lengthy and prolonged end of life. Each of her special people had a role in her life; Staci and Jane health care, Ruey and Collin books, Sarah care of her home and her person; Gaye with the love only a daughter can provide which was sometimes spoken and sometimes felt. From our family, thank you for loving her because she loved you right back. For me, thanks for being mom, all the stories, the field trips and the love filling in for my mom who left this world early. And to the girls she loved, "It's coffee time" A celebration of Alice's life will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E South Main St, Oakwood, with Andy Harkleroad officiating. Visitation will be held 10am-12pm on Thursday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
