Cayuga, Ind. - Alice Mildred Dixon, 87, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:32 p.m. EDT Monday, March 26, 2018 at her residence.
She was born November 7, 1930 in Clinton, Indiana the daughter of the late Peter Francis and Ethel (Blue) Sayre.
Alice first married Charles A. Morgan. She later married Joseph Conley Dixon on July 19, 1952 in Rockville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1977.
Survivors include her children: Mary Joanna (Karl) Kinneer and Mike Morgan both of Cayuga, Indiana; stepson, Gary Lee (Diane) Dixon of Fairmount, Illinois; four grandchildren, Michelle (Buddy) Julick; Bobby (Kari) Morgan; Mikayla Kinneer (Kyle) and Joseph Kinneer (Roxie); great grandson, Nick "Chubb's" Ellis; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to her niece, Connie Sanders for the care she provided for their mom and grandma. Alice was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Morgan.
Alice worked at the former Cayuga 5 & 10. She was a former babysitter for many families in the area. Alice also was a baker for Palucci's Pizza for several years. She was a member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. Alice was a 1948 graduate of Cayuga High School where she played on the women's basketball team. She was a past member of the Cayuga Firemen's Auxiliary, Wabash Valley Gourmet Club, and former Jolly Dozen Bunco Club. Alice was the first Secretary of Cayuga Fun Days and formerly taught bible school and Sunday school. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her nieces, and loved attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events. Alice was a fixture at her daughter's beauty shop, enjoying visiting with the many people who came in.
Funeral services: 3 p.m. EDT Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Cayuga Presbyterian Church, 410 West Curtis Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928; Officiating: Pastor Bill Henry and Jack Foos; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Friday, March 30, 2018 from 1 p.m. EDT until time of services at the church. Family request contributions to the Cayuga Presbyterian Church or to Great Lake Hospice, 3768 Rome Drive, Suite A, Lafayette, Indiana 47905. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
