Alice L. Kinney

ALICE L. KINNEY Alice L. Kinney, 93, of Danville, passed away at 11:36 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Alice was born on November 18, 1915 in Hoopeston, Illinois, the daughter of David and Faye (Romine) Schuff. She married Clyde M. Kinney on June 27, 1937 in Danville. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1997. She is survived by her granddaughter- Susan (Scott) Sigafoose-McLaren of New Jersey; four great-grandchildren- Amanda Jo, Sarah, Stephanie and James; and one cousin- Deborah Romine of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Nancy Sigafoose, son-in-law- Jim Sigafoose and one infant sister. Alice attended Villa Grove grade school and graduated from Danville High School in 1933. After high school she graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Alice was a teacher for District #118 for over 35 years, primarily at Cannon Grade School, until she retired in 1971. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Danville. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, watching birds and her dogs. A Celebration of the Life of Alice L. Kinney will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 with Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park following the service.
