ALICE L. HOOD DANVILLE; Alice L. Hood, 73, of Danville, passed away at 9:10 A.M. on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at The Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born December 31, 1930 in Danville, the daughter of Carroll and Virgil Marie Brown Laird. She married Robert E. Hood on December 3, 1951 in New Mexico. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1985. Survivors include 2 sons, Rob (Lori) Hood of Bloomington, IN., and Rick Hood of Springfield; 2 daughters, Carolyn (Glenn) Hopkins of Missouri City, Texas, and Barbara (Dale) Brandenburg of Danville; 1 brother, Bill (Shirley) Laird of Danville; 2 sisters, Doris Ivey of Danville and Leora (Ned) Hutchison of Covington, IN.; 5 grandchildren, Rachael (Ben) White of Houston, TX, Joshua and Sarah Hopkins, both of Missouri City, TX, and Matthew and Megan Hood, both of Bloomington, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Alice was a graduate of Danville High School, and worked at the V.A. Hospital as a housekeeper for over 21 years. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ, NARFE, AARP, CRIS, and a past member of the Frontier Twirlers Square Dance Club. She was also an election judge in Vermilion County for many years. Alice enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
