Alice Harper

Alice Harper, 96, of Danville passed away at 2:45 a.m. on September 3, 2009 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Logan Campus. Alice was born October 12, 1912 the daughter of Frank and Emma (Gillen) Bath. She married Marvin Harper on June 8, 1935 he preceded her in death on November 24, 1967. Aunt Alice loved her nephews, Edward W. (Georgene) Bath, and Charles Mabry and her nieces, Linda Hess, Janice Hancock, Emily Kuchenbrod, Lenora Whiteman, and Edith Stansel. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin, three brothers, Edward W. Bath Sr., Lester Bath, Robert Bath, and a beloved niece Dolores Mabry. Alice retired after 29 years with Windbreaker Company and 14 years with Model Star Laundry. She loved to garden, crochet, cook and visit with her family, and neighbors, Herschel and Charlotte White and Pete and Jean Grayson. A graveside service for Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend James Blue officiating. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. The family of Alice Harper thanks her caregiver Diana Dukes and the Community Care Program of Danville for providing the continued care for Alice to remain in her home. Memorials may be made in Alices name to the Danville Humane Society.
