Alice Dejaeger

Alice J. DeJaeger, 76, of Catlin passed away at 1:06 p.m. Tuesday March 1, 2011 at HP Hospice in Newport Richey, FL. She was born on January 18, 1935 in Zeigler, IL the daughter of Vanice S. and Lucille A. (Whiteside) Boots. She married Bob L. Walker in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married David A. DeJaeger in 1973. He survives. Other survivors include her son Bob (Sheryl) Walker of Champaign, her daughter, Viki Potter of Catlin, her sister Sue Rollins of Westville, her grandchildren, Darci Walker of Bloomington, IL and Kristin Walker of Champaign, her great granddaughter, Hayli Brown and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, and a granddaughter, Carla Potter. Alice was a graduate of Zeigler High School. She attended Southern Illinois University for one year. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Catlin, AARP, and Blue Needles Ladies Golf League in Catlin. She retired from Walgreens Accounting in Danville. She was past Jr. Womens Club President in Georgetown, past IL 18th Dist. Jr. Director, past Georgetown Kindergarten President, and past Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader. She enjoyed all sports and race car races. She also enjoyed golf, traveling, camping, crafts, and reading. She never met anybody she didnt like and will be missed by her friends at Orchid Lake RV Park in Newport Richey, FL. Most of all, she loved being with her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, A Life Celebration Home. Pastor James Blue will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to any Hospice or The American Stroke Association.
