Alfreda Klingensmith

Alfreda Klingensmith, 85, of Danville passed away at her home on December 14, 2022.

Alfreda was born on July 18, 1937 in Middleton, Ohio the daughter of John and Madge (McCone) Klingensmith.

Survivors include her nephew, Stephen Ifcic of Middleton, OH and she also leaves behind numerous church family and friends in the community.

Alfreda is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Martha (John) Ifcic of Ohio, Jean (Hugh) Pollock of Michigan, Virginia Cooney, of Ohio.

Alfreda had a Masters Degree in Elementary Music Education. She taught in Iowa before moving to Danville. She taught in Danville School District 118 for many years. She then served as Office Manager/Bookkeeper at NAPA Danville for many years prior to retirement.

Alfreda was a member of Holy Family Church. She was devout and shared her faith through her involvement in catechism and RCIA classes. She also helped with the St. Vincent de Paul food distribution program. Alfreda advanced her faith reading scriptures and watching programs on the Catholic TV station EWTN.

Alfreda sang for several years as a member of the original Vermilion Festival Choir. She enjoyed Red Mask plays, both watching performances and working backstage. Alfreda also loved cats and always had one or two in her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 East Main Street Danville, IL. Father Steven Loftus will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the church with a 9:30 AM Rosary Service.

Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made in Alfredas memory to Holy Family Church or the Danville Humane Society.
