Alfreda Lavonne Deknuydt Hart passed away January 13, 2016 at Presence United Samaritan in Danville, Illinois. Lavonne was born March 25, 1922 in Olmitz, Iowa to Margaret and Charles Deknuydt. They relocated to the Westville area when Lavonne was a child. She attended Georgetown High School where she met John William Hart. They were married in 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and resided in the Westville area after John was discharged from the Army. She lost her soul mate of 70 years on December 12, 2012. Lavonne is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Ken) Hannan, Grandchildren; Mike (Ruthie) Hannan, Debra (Willie) Howell, and Jennifer (David) Jenkins all of Westville. Also surviving are great-grandchildren; Michael (Andria) Baszis of Arcola, Evan Hannan (Fiance Vaughn Camacho) of Chicago, Alexandria Hannan of Champaign, and Brooke Jenkins of Franklin, IN. One great-great grandchild Aiden Baszis also survives. Lavonne was preceded in death by four sisters; Carrie, Marietta, Joan, and Adeline and four brothers; George, Chuck, Arthur, and Harold. A light hearted spirited individual she was a friend to all and welcomed family and friends into their home. She particularly enjoyed entertaining during the holiday season. She excelled at the game of euchre and welcomed all challengers. A lifelong Cubs fan she loved watching her "Cubbies". At Lavonne's request there will be no formal services. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace. Donations in Lavonne's memory may be made to the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation. Sunset Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
