Cayuga, Ind. - Alfred Leon Brown, 93, of Cayuga, passed away at 12:05 a.m. EDT Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana.
Leon was born October 6, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Clyde William and Blanche Marie (Pearman) Brown.
He married Mary Virginia Graham on June 21, 1953 in Hillsdale, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters: Cathy (Don) Hudson of Clinton, Indiana and Candy Brown of Cayuga, Indiana; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary (Bradley) Wickens of Covington, Indiana and Virginia (George) Davis of Cayuga, Indiana.
Leon was preceded in death by his son: Claude Leon Brown, and four brothers: Twin Leo; Donald; Ray and William.
Leon was a retired signalman for CSX railroad. He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army. Leon was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and Cayuga American Legion Post 263 (50+ years). He was a 1946 graduate of Cayuga High School. Leon enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, pitching horseshoes and playing ball with his grandchildren.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Monday, November 8, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Ashton Stewart; Burial with Honors: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EST Monday, November 8, 2021 until time of services at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga American Legion Post 263; 904 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928.
