Alfred Bott, 84, of Danville passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. in Danville. Alfie was born on November 15, 1930 to Roy and Mildred Bott in Danville, Illinois. Alfie married Ruth Mc Culloch in 1974, the two enjoyed many years of wedded bliss together. In 1974 due to a fire Ruth lost her sister and her brother in law in a fire and her and Alfie rose to the occasion of the three girls. Alfie is survived by his wife Ruth Bott of Danville; his daughters Elaine Treadway Pfeifer of Danville, Linda (Tim) Walsh of Rossville, and Lori Treadway Murphy; his grandchildren Brittany (Jeppy Johansen) Bott, Corey Bott, Michael Pfeifer, Cheri Pfeifer, Amanda (Mike) Murphy Allen, Rebecca Murphy, Alexis (Justin) Walsh Wagle, Brooke Walsh, Brad Walsh; and 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Alfie is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mildred, his son Robby Bott, his brother Dave Bott, and sister-in-law Betty Bott. Alfie graduated from Danville High School in 1949. He served his country during the Korean War and is a proud veteran. Alfie was on the board of the United Way, The Vermilion County Board for 14 years, The Civic Center Board for 19 years (The David S. Palmer Arena), served 9 years on the Danville Sanitation Board, was in the Machinist Union for 23 years he work as a Union representative, and a Charter Member of the Labor Management Board. Alfie was also a Member of the Olive Branch in Danville where he achieved the rank of 32nd Degree with the Masons. Alfie loved to travel from coast to coast with his good friends in the motorhome that he and Ruth owned he also enjoyed fishing trips with his fishing buddies. Alfie also loved camping and watching Clint Eastwood movies in his spare time. A Celebration of Alfies life will take place on Friday February 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, a life celebration center, in Danville. Pastor Michael Luke will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville at 4:00 pm. until 7:00 pm.
