Alberta Wilhelmina Graening Drews Novak, 91, of Eatonton, Georgia, formerly of Danville, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Stone Brook Suites in Gray, Georgia. She was born March 3, 1913 in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Edward William and Katherine Wilhelmina (Schmidt) Graening. She married Louis C. Drews on May 24, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana. Louis preceded her in death on May 21, 1965. She later married Ernest A. Novak on September 14, 1968 in Decatur, Illinois. Ernest preceded her in death on May 21, 1999. She is survived by: 2 Daughters- Linda J. (H. Gerald) Ford of Danville and Donna M. (Charles) Crouch of Eatonton, GA; 7 Grandchildren- William A. (Kim) Wright, Jr. of Danville, Michael L. Wright of Danville, Brian G. (Annette) Ford of Glasford, IL, Janis L. (Gregory) Wetterich of Bloomfield, Iowa, Mark T. (Wendi) Ford of Tolono, IL, Beth Ann (Steve) Strickland of Columbia, SC and Ruth L. (Matthew) Elder of Melbourne, FL; and 15 Great-Grandchildren. Along with her two husbands, her parents, one daughter- Delores L. Wright and four brothers - Harold, Henry, Elmer and Gilbert Graening preceded her in death. Alberta formerly worked for Eisner Grocery in the Bakery. She then worked for Interstate Printing Company from 1958-1965 as a Proof Reader. From 1966 until her retirement in 1979, she worked as a Proof Reader for Rand McNally. After retirement, she moved back to Danville, and began to quilt - quilting with the church ladies for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Eunice Society, the Quilters at Trinity and helped with the Labels for Schools program. She was also a member of the Vermilion Valley Quilters. Alberta enjoyed traveling, liked to watch birds, and grew flowers and a small garden every year. "She loved to be with her family, and was a devout Christian woman who was very devoted to the Lord".
