Alberta Blakeney

Alberta Blakeney, 69, of Danville, passed away at 1:45am, Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born on October 15, 1942, in Westville, IL, the daughter of Andrew and Julia {Gailus} Karushis, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Dean Blakeney on April 23, 1962, in Westville, IL. He will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by: her sons, Ron (Kristie) Blakeney of Bloomington, IL, & Dave (Donna) Blakeney of Danville; her daughter, Susan (Joe) Coffing of Covington, IN; her grandchildren, Brittany Coffing, Brooke Coffing, Erin Blakeney, & Gabbie Blakeney; her brother, Andrew (Joyce) Karushis of Veedersburg, IN; and her sisters, Marianne Moreman of Westville & Christine Karushis. She was preceded in death by: her brother, Leonard Karuzis; and her sister, Sylvia Nagrodski. Alberta graduated from Schlarman in 1960. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Westville. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughters play softball and attending their dance recitals. Her granddaughters meant the world to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Friday, August 31, 2012, at St. Mary's Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Fr. Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm, Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville and also 9:30am-10:30am, Friday, August 31, 2012, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Westville.
