Albert R. Albie Thomas, 54, of Allerton, passed away at 4:38pm, Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at his home. He was born in Danville on July 4, 1956, the son of Ernest and Lois {Brewer} Thomas, both deceased. Albert enjoyed going mushroom hunting and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins, lighters, and comic books. He was an avid Chicago Bears & Cubs fan. He loved to spend time with his family and all of his good friends. He is survived by: a son, Jason; a daughter, Erica; his brother, Ernest (Penny) Thomas of Indianola; his sisters, Connie (Bob) Maring of Catlin, Doris Grubbs of Fithian, & Diana (Larry) Endsley of Sidell; his nieces & nephews, Kara Thomas, Ernie Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Carly Thomas, Tim Thomas, Clay Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Zachary Maring, & Katy Grubbs; his great-nieces & great-nephews, Dylan Diaz, Cale Thomas, & Jayden Long. He is also survived by his best friends, Chuck Ingram of Indianola, Jeff White Owl Gooch of Sidell, & Jeff Whaley of Sidell. In honor of Albert, please where casual clothes for his Memorial Service that will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration Home in Georgetown with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. As was Alberts wishes, cremation rites were performed at Sunsets onsite crematory under the immediate direction of Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel and will be laid to rest in Oakridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
