Albert 'Louie' Johnson

Albert L. Louie Johnson, 76, of Danville, passed this life at 7:33pm, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Provena USMC. Louie was born on August 26, 1933, in Muncie, IN, the son of John and Sybil Johnson. On December 21, 1957, Louie married Ms. Carol Rippon at the St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. She survives along with their four children, John (Lori) Johnson, Chris (Carl) Jones, Tammy (Robert) Unzicker, and LuAnn Leverich. His 13 grandchildren, Luke, Matt, Tiffany, Nick, Brandon, Jeff, Missy, Jennifer, Stephen, Jessica, Katie, Allie, Louie, his twenty-one great-grandchildren, and his sister, Lynda (Pat) Laff, also survive him. His parents, and two brothers, Marion and Richard Johnson, precede Louie in death. Louie was a 1951 Danville High School graduate, attended Butler University, joined the United States Navy, and served during the Korean Conflict while stationed aboard the USS Savage. After the service, Louie became a meat sales representative for various meatpacking companies, and later worked at the former Mr. Discount Furniture store in Danville. Louie attended Calvary Baptist Church in Danville, was a member of the Catlin Lions Club, and appointed Secretary. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He was known for always doing for others, and for taking good care of his wife Carol and their children. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration for Albert L. Johnson will begin at 2:00pm on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with internment and Military Honors to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Cox. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Louies name to the donors choice.
