Albert Leroy White

Albert LeRoy White, 80, of Danville, passed away on February 25, 2022, at 2:44 pm at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, with his niece by his side. He was born September 26, 1941, to James and Susan (Hashman)White in Danville. Uncle Albert had a green thumb. He used to plant big gardens when he lived in Westville and could grow cabbage as big as basketballs. He would grow plants and trees from seeds he saved and dried out. He loved spending time at the river, walking through the woods and eating beans and cornbread at the annual family gatherings. He could not pass up a good junk pile to dig through. He liked to walk all over Danville and collect cans. Uncle Albert enjoyed digging old bottles and unique items out of the riverbeds and bringing it home to his niece, Angel, with whom he shared a special bond. Uncle Albert loved to talk about the old days and would always refer back to 1946 and 1947. He would tell the story of Grandpa throwing the "big ole rock at him in the garden" and would laugh until he cried, in true White family style. Uncle Albert is survived by his brother, Charles White of Port St. Lucie Florida and sister, Linda White, with whom he resided, in Danville, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Henry, George, Bob, Hershel, Carl, Jerry, & Bill White, and sisters, Mary Peterson and Nancy Hardy. A special thank you to OSF staff, Jody, the ICU nurses Ashley, Ramona, Heather, Jim, Anika and all the others. He was very well cared for. A celebration of Alberts life will be held on 12:00pm, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883, with Pastor Gary Milton officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday prior to his service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, Illinois.
