GEORGETOWN - Albert E. Garwood (Al), 92, of 500 Kennedy Drive, Georgetown, Illinois, passed this life to be with his Lord on February 15, 2007, while at his home. He loved his family and loved to laugh with and enjoy them. Al was born on June 6, 1914 at home near Paris, Illinois, to Ralso and Anabelle Rinesmith Garwood " the sixth of eight children. He married Farrell Ruth West October 6, 1935. To this union was born three (3) children: Janice Eckel of Danville, Illinois, Sandra Abernathy of Clinton, Indiana, and Larry A. Garwood (Sarah) of Louisville, Kentucky. Als first wife, Farrell, died November 29, 1949. He married Inez Hunt Becker in 1950 and Inez died December 15, 1975. Al then married Ruby T. Tucker on October 3, 1976 and she survives. He has two step-sons: Paul E. Becker (Phyllis) of Catlin, Illinois and Walter R. Galyen (Carol) of Berea, Kentucky. He is survived by his children and step-children, seven (7) grandchildren, six (6) step-grandchildren, ten (10) great-grandchildren and four (4) great-great grandchildren. In addition, Al is survived by his only sister, Clara Ashmore and youngest brother, Ben Garwood, both of Paris, Illinois. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, and five (5) brothers: Paul; James; Clyde; Harry; and Elmer. Al loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of First Church of Christ in Georgetown. He had served as a Deacon and Elder for many years. Al had been President of the Christian Builders Sunday school class for 35 years and President of the Benevolence Committee and Missions Committee of the church for many years. A life-long farmer, Al loved tilling the earth and gardening. He enjoyed giving his produce to others and gained more satisfaction in helping those in need than he did in doing for himself. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home at 200 East West Street, Georgetown, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements with visitation scheduled for Sunday, February 18th, 2007, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and the services at 10:30 am , Monday, February 19th, 2007, also at the funeral home. Interment will be a Pleasant Mound Cemetery, west of Georgetown. If a memorial is preferred, Als preference would have been Johnson Bible College, 7900 Johnson Drive, Knoxville, TN 37998.
