Danville Alan W. Roy, Sr, 76, of Clarksville, TN formerly of Danville, IL passed away at his home in Clarksville, TN at 8:05 PM on June 28, 2020.
Alan was born on March 18, 1944 in Danville the son of Oates and Lila (Allen) Roy. He married Kathleen Strawser on September 15, 1967 in Danville and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Clarksville, TN, two sons, Alan W. (Jenny) Roy, Jr, of Danville and Richard (Janet) Boggess of Oakwood, IL, three daughter, Paula (Marty, Jr.) Acord of Covington, IN, Cynthia (Steven) Miller of Bloomington, IL, Tonya (Matt) Jordan of Clarksville, TN, grandchildren Justin Alan (Caila) Fulfer, Jonathan (Angelina) Fulfer, Amber (JoJo) Isaac, Austin (Chelsie) Acord, Abraham (Gretchen) Miller, Alisha Miller, Keith Roy, Alyxis (Neil) Coon, Rebecca Wilson, James Wilson, Rachel Wilson, Kathleen (Cruz) Jordan Verdugo, Jacob Jordan, Alexandria Jordan, Kaleb Jordan and Taylor Boggess as well as great-grandchildren, Richard Fulfer, John Fulfer, Kiara Miller, Sophia Fulfer, Lincoln Fulfer, Cruz Lane Verdugo, brother-in-law Ronald (Mary) Strawser of Ft Myers, FL, sister-in-law, Mary (Ken) Rieden of Westville and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Oates and Lila Roy, grandparents, Alonzo Roy, Ida Bishop, Clifford and Mae Allen, a grandson, Joel A. Miller, mother and father-in law, Lewis and Mildred Strawser, sisters-in-law, Donna Rouse and Sue Steinsdoerfer, brothers-in-law, David Rouse and Lewis W. Strawser and niece Tamara Steinsdoerfer.
Mr. Roy worked as a hyster lift truck driver for Esco Corp for 13 years and then started his own business as owner and operator of Alans Body Shop where he remained in business for 25 years. He and Kathy also owned Alan and Kathy, Inc and he worked for his longtime friend Eldon Wright at Wright Motor Company and then Precision Auto as a painting technician until he retired in 2017. Alan served as a very well-liked and very unique auto body technician restoring, painting and refinishing cars. Alan was also a member of the Turtle Club, working for many years with handicapped children and a member of the Moose Lodge in Danville, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 5, 2020 from 4:00 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Songer Cemetery in Tilton.
It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation and or funeral service wear mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Judes Childrens Hospital.
